David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell
I have never been one to jump at the opportunity to read about history, science, current affairs and politics and this amazing title combines all of those and research. It was incredible read and not because it disputed biblical messages with logic and physiology, but because it made the most challenging experiences seem much more manageable and even essential to your growth. Gladwell's ability to challenge conventional l thinking about success, power and flipping disadvantages into advantages is refreshing. And of course, I will never pass up the opportunity to experience underdogs coming up triumphant.
Thank you to the stranger who recommended it at the now closed Exclusive Books Stellenbosch branch (you're the best bro)!
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides - This book had me at the prospect of uncovering what happened and the fact that the only suspect/victim's wife is not saying s#!+! I didn't even know that it is a thriller outside of it being a fictional title, otherwise I would not have given a chance, but I'm glad I did. If you enjoy a good investigation, the use of psychological analysis and an unexpected ending, then you will not be disappointed.
I actually felt like I needed therapy after reading it from all the twists and turns the characters go through, the plot is - chef's kiss!
Official blurb: The Silent Patient is a shocking psychological thriller of a woman’s act of violence against her husband—and of the therapist obsessed with uncovering her motive.
