Lately I have been craving pizza and picnics under the stars in good company while reminiscing about my time in Stellenbosch and missing some of the wonderful people I was fortunate enough to know.
On one of the weekends we had for our Hillsong Connect Group we went to La Pineta, a wine farm restaurant off of the R44 route in the Cape Winelands. It was a lovely evening with some of the awesome people from my Connect Group mixed with people from other Connect Groups. There is obviously the awkwardness of meeting new people, but also the comfort of being in the presence of people you know and care about...One person I remember meeting was Gabby who's currently based in the UK and we had our wine fueled boys chat/career change/migration sprinkled with the woes of the UK's shitty weather and lack of braai (damn those English people) and laughed a lot (Hallo meisie, hope you're doing well).
As for the experience itself - the food was amazing, service was a bit slow and if I wasn't in good company I wouldn't have noticed how long it took to get our pizza. Otherwise the place's clean, the waiter are friendly and respectful. The restaurant has some of the most beautiful mountain and sunset views over the vines. I am no wine connoisseur, therefore nothing I say will do their wine collection justice, but I enjoyed their red wine.
