Some the biggest lessons I re-learnt in 2022...
There is truly nothing new under the sun, I spent this year reflecting on my journey so far and the lessons, teachings and advice I've received in the past 3 decades. I was at times filled with ambition and inspired for the future and excited for new ventures. I changed and thought I figured things out (know myself) only to feel lost again. I began to actively give myself grace because there are many more phuq-ups ahead, that's how you learn and that's what it is to be human.
A cholesterol health scare turned out to be the best motivator for healthy living - nutrition and exercise. As with all things I started out strong and excited but had to learn that motivation is not sustainable, at least not for me. I lost count of the number of times I started over with exercise and nutrition since I'm trying to eat clean to help my body recover from the mess I put it through. With this I learnt to start over as many times as necessary and was reminded time and time again that what matters most is progress not perfection and to always proceed imperfectly (do what I can and keep moving).
More than anything, I was reminded of something I came across while reading Shonda Rhimes' The Year of Yes years ago and that is, most good decision don't feel good in the moment, but your future self is worth it.
And I finally started blogging after a decade of self-doubt and deep yearning - this space is important to me and is one of the biggest goals I set for myself in 2022!
Here's to joy, growth and better days - here's to 2023!
